It is common for our pets to require surgery to address an injury or malformation. For certain conditions, we can help with pain management and muscle strengthening pre-operatively. For our pets after surgery, we can often get them back to function faster by boosting the body’s endogenous healing mechanisms, providing pain relief, minimizing muscle atrophy, and addressing compensatory shifts in weight-bearing. Some types of tendon or ligament injuries may require support with orthotics. It is usually recommended to start acupuncture and rehabilitation as soon as possible after the procedure, depending on the procedure performed and the expected healing timeframe.
